Psalm 22: Silence of the Lambs

verse 1: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?"

This prayerful hymn should be sung with the heart of a deer in the dawn. Life and death are determined as the sun rises, whether it will shine brilliantly on David or cast a deathly pallor on another(enemy), no one knows. God remains still. Jesus also prayed this same prayer on the cross before he died. Just as God whispered to Elisha on a gentle breeze, he did not even offer a whisper to Jesus. Because Jesus, too, was a descendant of David. The fate of David's descendants, Jesus and his brothers, is pitiful. The comfort that before dawn, when everything is darkest, is when God is closest, is poor solace for David, Jesus, and their brothers. They wanted to make a deal with God, but it was impossible. Who can make a covenant with God? They could only become sheep, ready to be sheared. Can the silence of the lambs truly bring forth the voice of God?
