Galatians 3 (#2): Help Us Live a Life Worthy of Being Your Children

Verse 26: So in Christ Jesus, you are all children of God through faith.

◇ There is only one condition to become a child of God: faith. If you believe in Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior, you become a child of God in Christ Jesus. This condition applies to everyone, whether they are Greeks or Jews, male or female, free or slaves. The condition for becoming a child of God is very simple.

Paul says that those who were baptized into Christ have clothed themselves with Christ (verse 27). When you become a child of God, you are clothed with Christ. Since you are clothed with Christ, you should live according to His example.

We often misunderstand this. We mistake living according to Christ's example as a condition for becoming a child of God. Living like Christ is not for the purpose of becoming a child of God, but rather to live as a child of God should.

We have clothed ourselves with Christ. We must put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience like clothing (Colossians 3:12) because we are children of God.

Should the children of God wear the clothing of Satan's children, such as envy, jealousy, strife, discord, lies, immorality, and debauchery?

♧ God, thank you. We are already your children through faith. Help us live a life clothed with Christ, worthy of being your children! Holy Spirit, lead us in truth!
