1 Corinthians 3 (#3): People of God
Verse 21: So then, let no one boast about people. For all things are yours,
Verse 22: whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours,
Verse23: and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.
◇ Who are you?
You are a co-worker of God, doing his work. You are a child of God, who calls God your Father through the cross of Jesus Christ. You are an heir of God. As a child of God, whom do you boast about?
The saints of the Corinthian church were also co-workers and children of God like us. They boasted about Paul, Apollos, and Peter. They wanted to hear that they were followers of Paul, followers of Peter, and followers of Apollos. They tried to reveal who they were by being associated with authoritative figures among Christians.
As children of God, will you boast about people or will you boast about God? As heirs of God, should we not hear that we are people of God?
♧ God, let us boast only about you and hear that we are your people, and let us boast about being your heirs! Holy Spirit, lead us in truth!
