1 Corinthians 7: For the joy of God alone
Verse 19: Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.
◇ What Paul emphasizes most to the Corinthians is living a life that keeps God's commands. It is living according to God's will. If you are married, it is about living a life that pleases God in your married situation. If you are not married, it is about living a life that pleases God in your unmarried situation. If your husband or wife is an unbeliever, it is about living a life that can lead them to salvation. If you are circumcised, it is about living a life that pleases God as a circumcised person; if you are not circumcised, it is about living a life that pleases God as an uncircumcised person.
What matters more is not what situation, position, or place we are in, but what kind of heart we have and how we are living our lives. What is the point of boasting about being circumcised if you are not living according to God's will? What is the point of being uncircumcised and claiming to have received salvation if you live without the cross of Christ and the heart of Jesus?
Let us examine whether we are living with the heart of God and the heart of Jesus in the situations and positions that God has allowed.
♧ God, please help us not to be attached or bound by situations! Help us to live a life that pleases you! Holy Spirit, guide us in truth!
