Psalm 67: Miracle
Verse 2: "May your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere."
In a world dominated by the law of the jungle, where survival of the fittest reigns supreme, there resounds a remarkable prayer and praise: "May your ways be known throughout the earth, your saving power among people everywhere." A universal plea for salvation in a world where one must defeat the other to survive can only be a miracle. From the mouth of Cain, who killed his own brother Abel, and from the heart of humanity, which crucified Jesus and turned him into a political criminal and a religious lawbreaker, comes a prayer for the salvation of all nations. This, indeed, is a miracle. Can such a prayer and praise come from humans?
Psalm 67, a prayer for universal peace and salvation, is not something humans can produce. It is a miracle. This prayer and praise are equivalent to Jesus' words, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31). John expressed this verse as follows: "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends" (John 15:13). If a poet inspired by the Holy Spirit wrote Psalm 67, Jesus threw himself into it and made it his prayer and praise.
