Psalm 68: God who saves

Verse 20: Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death

If David's Psalm 68 were a song, his heart would be complex. There are so many things to be thankful for, and so many things he desires that his heart is anxious. If this Psalm were a collection of various songs and praises, it would be difficult to grasp main theme because of its damage.

Despite this, the overall atmosphere of the Psalm can be summarized in verse 20. The poet prays, hoping for God's salvation, and desires to praise him after experiencing it. The strong and fearsome God, who humbles nations and rides on clouds, must at the same time take care of orphans, widows, the weak, and the lonely. In short, God must be characterized by "salvation." Through salvation, God must relate to the poet, Israel, and all creatures, including humanity on a broader scale.
