Psalm 69: Those Who Seek the Lord Will Not Be Disappointed

Verse 32: "The poor will see and be glad — you who seek God, may your hearts live!"

David's situation has worsened. He is stuck in a swamp where his feet cannot touch the bottom, and his body is almost entirely submerged, leaving only his head above water. In his desperation, David sends a signal to God: "May those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me, Lord God Almighty; may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me, God of Israel" (verse 6). This urgent plea asks God to prevent any shame or disgrace to those who seek him, even if David himself is swallowed up by the swamp. Jesus also cried out urgently in Gethsemane and on the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" This plea implores God not to let all the miracles and teachings that had happened through him be in vain. Can God ignore the desperate cries of David and Jesus at their darkest hour? Let us pray that the desperate cries of those seeking God today do not shatter and scatter in the air.
