Psalm 84: Jesus is with us
Verse 5: Blessed are those who receive strength from the Lord and whose hearts are set on the pilgrimage to Zion.
The pilgrimage to Zion is not only a smooth path. Even though the journey begins with the strength given by the Lord, there are hills of joy and sorrow, fulfillment and frustration along the way. God walks the path that humans must walk together. Theologian Jürgen Moltmann claimed that God also suffered with Jesus on the cross. Not only on the cross, but God also walks with us and experiences our journey from beginning to end. This is the true meaning of Jesus' name, Immanuel. This is the meaning of the incarnation. When our life journey ends and we reach the hill across the river, we will stand there with Jesus. This is the hope promised by Jesus. Therefore, human existence is not lonely, even if it is cast into the abyss of Angst. This is the ultimate blessing spoken of in the Scriptures.
