Psalm 100: The Lord is God.

Verse 3: Know that the Lord is God. He has made us, and we are His, His people, and the sheep of His pasture.

In verse 3, the psalmist reveals the reason for offering a shout of joy to the Lord: it is because “the Lord is God." What is the content of recognizing that the Lord is God? If we look at the matching of words, the Lord is Yahweh, and God is the god of gods. Yahweh is the god of the Hebrew people, an outsider god and a regional god. God is the highest god among the regional gods. The Bible mentions gods, but in content, there is only one God. Other gods are either false gods or illusions.

So, is the statement that Yahweh is God the sum of the Hebrews' experiences of Yahweh? In verse 5, the psalmist says, "The Lord is good and merciful, and His mercy endures forever," and refers to the Lord's eternal mercy as His faithfulness. In other words, the summary of the psalmist's experiences of the Lord is "Yahweh is God."

In reality, there are those who have bitter feelings about the Lord. Have they not seen the true face of the Lord? Is it the Lord's problem, or is it their problem? The Lord's goodness and mercy are not one-dimensional. They also include bitterness, like bitterness hidden within sweetness.

What is the conclusion of our experience of the Lord, and when will it be determined? We hope that the sum of our experiences of the Lord will not end in emptiness. Therefore, we pray that we, too, may shout for joy, saying, "The Lord is God," like the psalmist.
