Psalm 97: Prayer of the Righteous and Upright

Verse 11: Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.

We know that light shines on the righteous, but we lack the courage to be righteous. We know that joy is given to the upright, but we lack the courage to be honest. We recognize our lukewarm state and position that Jesus despised. Let's change the content of our prayers. Instead of asking for light to shine upon us, let us strive to be righteous. Instead of praying for joy, let us cultivate an honest heart.
