2 Corinthians 4: Treasures in Jars of Clay

verse 7: But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

◇ Paul states that he and his colleagues are not preaching about themselves, but only about Jesus Christ as Lord, and themselves as servants for the sake of the Christians.

Paul compares himself and his colleagues to jars of clay containing treasures. He clarifies that they are doing valuable work because the precious treasure of God is contained in these seemingly worthless jars of clay. They confess that everything they do is not by their own power but by the power of God.

Paul always knows who he is. Because he has a clear understanding of himself, he does not go astray.

If we, like Paul, clearly know who we are, we will always be humble. We will not be arrogant.

He who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence (2 Corinthians 4:14).

While living in this world, we are jars of clay containing treasures. On the outside, we may appear like ordinary jars of clay, but inside, we are treasure chests filled with gems. People may not know this, but God does. And it will be revealed when we stand before God.

♧ Lord, help me not forget that I am a jar of clay and keep me humble! Make me a jar of clay containing and sharing God's treasures! Holy Spirit, lead me in truth!
