2 Corinthians 7 (#2): Turning Worries into Hope

Verse 10:

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

◇ Worldly sorrow leads to death. The reason worldly sorrow leads us to death is the absence of God. Without God, there is only despair in sorrow, no hope, leading to death.

The worries of those who believe in God do not lead to death. Instead, they become a driving force that leads to new insights and hope.

See how this godly sorrow has produced in you what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter (Verse 11).

The size and depth of our worries vary from person to person, but through these worries, we can change. We can become more earnest, think more deeply, fear God more, love God more, become more zealous, more sincere, more truthful, and more humble.

We who worry are not alone. God, who comforts and resolves our worries, is with us. God has promised to always be with us. He who changes our worries into hope is with us.

♧ God, comfort those who are deeply worried and heading towards death, and give them hope! Change their worries into hope! Holy Spirit, lead us in truth!
