Psalm 140: Advocate, Paraclete
Verse 12: "I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy."
Those in distress are often alone. There are many times when there is no one by their side. Even for the sinner, an advocate stands by their side. Although they cannot be said to be without sin, everyone needs an advocate who requests a fair trial by their side. To stand by someone is to be there for them. People need to rely on each other, and when alone, they become poor. Even if they work at the expense of their precious life, when they are poor, it is just for them to have a fair and reasonable income distribution. Recovering at least the normality, returning the situation to common sense is a just act, and when this act is universal, it will be called justice. The poet of Psalm 140 is also requesting God as an advocate when there is no one by their side, and prays for God to bestow common sense (justice) on him, who is sometimes poor in body, mind, and wealth. 'I know.' It is the 'Amen' where the poet ends his prayer.
