2 Kings 19: Prayer is the Almighty Queen

Verse 20:
Isaiah son of Amoz sent a message to Hezekiah: "This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning King Sennacherib of Assyria."

◇ The Assyrian army of 185,000 has surrounded Jerusalem and is threatening it to surrender. They are mocking and insulting the savior of Israel, the Lord God. At this time, all that King Hezekiah, who was powerless, could do was pray. He sent people to Isaiah to ask for prayer, and he himself went to the temple to pray.

Then God spoke through Isaiah: "I have heard your prayer concerning King Sennacherib of Assyria."
The next day, the Assyrian army of 185,000 lay dead, and Sennacherib returned to Assyria. Later, he was assassinated in the temple of his god Nisroch.

God heard and answered the prayers of Hezekiah and Isaiah. Martin Luther said, "Prayer is the almighty queen. Through prayer, we find the right path, tidy up what is wrong, endure what cannot be recovered, overcome all misfortune, and obtain all that is good. I have always prayed earnestly. When my prayer is offered sincerely, my prayer is fully answered and I receive more. It is because I have prayed."

For Christians, prayer is one of the most important things. It is not because we obtain or accomplish what we need through prayer, but through prayer, we establish a complete relationship with the Lord.

What we obtain and accomplish is merely the result of establishing a complete relationship with the Lord. When we pray, we must not reverse the roles. If we pray for results, and the prayer is not answered, we may deny God, but if we pray for the sake of the relationship with God, we will not deny Him.

♧ Lord, through prayer, let us live a blessed life by establishing a complete relationship with You! Let us enjoy the prosperity of Your presence! Holy Spirit, lead us in the way of truth!
