Is it faith in commands, or transformation through faith?

Today's preacher delivered a sermon on Mark 7:1-23 titled 'Is it faith in commands, or transformation through faith?'

People sent by the Pharisees and teachers of the law traveled 150km from Jerusalem to find fault with Jesus. This shows how much of a problem Jesus was for them. It's evidence that Jesus was no small fry. They sifted Jesus through the sieve of their own laws (purity laws and Sabbath laws). Jesus summed up their standard as hypocritical. He asked them where their hearts were and told them to reveal their true nature instead of hiding behind God. The preacher also posed this question to today's audience.

People live by placing coordinates in time and space. As technology advances, another factor may be added to time and space, but even then, people will live by placing coordinates there. The unchanging question is 'Where are you?' The Apostle Paul always urged people to make faith-based existential judgments by constantly asking themselves why they were in that time and space. The question God asked Adam long ago, 'Where are you?' holds permanence in Christian faith. Socrates said that even bad laws are laws, but Jesus asks why those laws were made in the first place. Jesus heard the answer: Shut up, you should die."
