Joshua 14: Caleb: Unwavering Faithfulness
Joshua 14: Caleb: Unwavering Faithfulness
"12 Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said."
◇ We remember two of the spies Moses sent to Canaan. Unlike the ten spies who were afraid of the Anakites and fortified cities of Canaan, these two spies said that they were our food and that we should not be afraid because God was with us.
Caleb is one of those two. It is 45 years later. After 40 years in the wilderness and the Canaan Conquest, 45 years have passed. Hearing Caleb's words at 85 years of age, it is like seeing Caleb at 40 years of age 45 years ago. His faithfulness to God remains unchanged.
His body has aged and decayed over the course of 45 long years, but his heart for God remains just as hot and intense. In fact, it has grown even stronger and more courageous.
I earnestly desire Caleb's unwavering faith in God, which remains constant even as time and circumstances change, to be present in my life.
◇ Faithful God, grant me such unwavering faithfulness like Caleb. Holy Spirit, strengthen me with courage. Amen.
